Donauturm Vienna Restaurant: Our Date, Booking and Prices

My husband and I went to Vienna’s Donauturm for a date, spending time in the rotating restaurant before evening. There weren’t many people around, and it almost felt as though we had the place to ourselves. What made it special was the sense that we didn’t need to hurry.

If you’re considering a meal here, the views are only part of the decision. Here’s what our visit was like, along with the booking details worth checking before you go.

The Turm Restaurant: a table above Vienna

The Turm Restaurant sits 170 metres above the ground and slowly rotates, bringing different parts of Vienna into view while you sit at your table.

Our photographs show the city spread out beyond the windows: water, bridges, green spaces and buildings stretching towards the hills. Having that view beside the table gives a meal a different setting from a restaurant at street level.

During our visit, the dining room felt intimate. There seemed to be relatively few tables, and with so few guests around, it was easy to settle into the experience. That quiet atmosphere is part of why we’d recommend it for a date.

Our meal at Donauturm came in courses

We bought our visit online in advance and didn’t have to wait in a queue. Our arrangement was a set menu: the dishes came in courses rather than being chosen individually.

The photographs below show some of what was served at our table, from the first plates to meat with vegetables and dessert. They give you a glimpse of our meal, rather than a guide to what will be on the menu when you visit.

Today, the restaurant advertises à la carte dining, so check the offer you’re booking rather than assuming it will work like ours.

Donauturm restaurant: booking, admission and prices now

A restaurant reservation and a ticket up the tower are separate bookings. As checked in October 2026:

  • Adult admission is €18 online, including the express lift and observation deck. A confirmed restaurant reservation provides a 50% discount code, bringing adult admission to €9. Apply the code before paying. Official tickets.
  • Food is charged separately. Each diner must order a main course. The current menu includes pumpkin risotto at €22, veal schnitzel at €36 and a beef dish at €48.
  • The compulsory cover charge is €8.50 per person, including bread, olive oil, butter and still or sparkling water. See the current menu for dishes and prices.
  • Tables are normally reserved for two hours. Check your booking’s time slot and the restaurant’s reservation conditions.

Those are current prices, not the cost of our set-menu visit. For a date, allow for the meal, cover charge, admission and any additional drinks, as well as your journey.

Getting to Donauturm, and taking your time afterwards

We took a taxi to Donauturm. On the way back, we combined a walk with the metro. If you like to include a walk in your outing, consider leaving some time for it around the meal.

The tower is in Donaupark at Donauturmplatz 1, in Vienna’s 22nd district. Use the official directions and opening information to plan your journey and check the schedule for your date. The restaurant, café and observation deck are different parts of the tower, so make sure you’re booking the experience you want.

Is the Donauturm restaurant good for a date?

Yes. For us, Donauturm was a distinctive place to spend time together: a meal with changing views and an atmosphere that felt unhurried. We’d also consider it a lovely setting for a proposal, although our visit was simply a date as husband and wife.

Choose it when you want to make a meal part of the occasion, and check the full booking cost beforehand. That relaxed atmosphere is what made it a good date for us. If you are staying another night, my Vienna evening ideas cover the Prater, Strandcafé and 7Stern Bräu, and the zoo makes a good daytime plan.
